" To say that I have not found something special, in this moment...here...would do a great injustice to the few that provide a soft lit hallway of communication for the many...thank you, CDM"

I believe that the key to common courtesy is to be aware, flexible, and forgiving. Aware of your surrounding, in this case a door. Be flexible, in the case of a door to act with the chivalrous intentions, and to be forgiving should the chivalrous act be dismissed.

+ 1...whether she says thank you or not...it does not concern me...this is how I have been raised...doing otherwise would go against the grain of who I am...I do not know what this specific woman is going through...I do not know her past experiences...

...many of my lady friends fall into the category of usually not saying thank you when a man opens a door for them...they see this kind gesture as a prelude for a man wanting something from them...obviously, this is not always the case...when you are constantly bombarded with unwanted "invitations" you create barriers to minimize these experiences...past experiences guide their current thinking: when in a room full of opportunists one acts accordingly...until proven otherwise...not every man is "after something"...yet some women have had enough intrusive negative experiences to say nothing and keep walking...is a kind gesture still a kind gesture when one has an ulterior motive?...

" A sexual relationship may last for an hour or two. It's still a relationship: the participants have related to one another-as sex partners, companions, lovers- for the duration of the interaction. Longevity is not a good criterion by which to judge the success or failure of a relationship."

-Dossie Easton

" What I need is a woman who is something, anything; either very beautiful or very kind or in the last resort very wicked, very witty..., but something."
