I too, am still alive, barely, as work has taken all my time, energy and focus. Has it been worth it? I think so, as I love what I'm doing and the application of my work makes a real difference to our customers, the company and our employees. It was a real shift going from a role in which I was very good, with lots of political capital, to a new role and profession where I knew no one and my reputation mattered not a bit.
On the downside, I had to cancel an engagement with one of the gentlemen here because WORK... ![]() I'm hoping for a quieter, gentler summer and to kick it off, I think I'll hit up the drive-in this weekend to see the new X-Men movie (but not superman vs batman because I've never liked either of them). 6

This bit seems well suited for this place:
“to live in this world you must be able to do three things to love what is mortal; to hold it against your bones knowing your own life depends on it; and, when the time comes to let it go, to let it go” ― Mary Oliver, New and Selected Poems, Vol. 1 12

Just started reading the work of poet Mary Oliver and her words speak to me: 'Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?'
Manager is encouraging me to apply for a development program at work: 2 year rotation, four locations, six months in each location, with one overseas location. Not sure if he thinks I'm up for it, or wants me far away ![]() 13

Carbonara. Imported fettuccine coated in a glorious mixture of egg, pecorino, parmesan, guanciale (can sub pancetta or bacon), and lots of freshly cracked black pepper.
May be the best thing I'll ever put in my mouth. I could eat this daily. So simple, so inexpensive yet so incredible. I think it may be the ultimate seduction food. I seduced myself. 14
