Revisiting the weekend thread...what is everyone up to?
I popped by the museum for a Vermeer and Rembrandt exhibit focusing on class structure
Assembled an arbor for my grapevines (and separated the vines)
Went to see X-men (meh)
Ribeye on the grill for street tacos
Tomorrow:
Walk in the park
Swapping out winter wardrobe for summer wardrobe
Starting a batch of Hungarian summer pickles

I too, am still alive, barely, as work has taken all my time, energy and focus. Has it been worth it? I think so, as I love what I'm doing and the application of my work makes a real difference to our customers, the company and our employees. It was a real shift going from a role in which I was very good, with lots of political capital, to a new role and profession where I knew no one and my reputation mattered not a bit.
On the downside, I had to cancel an engagement with one of the gentlemen here because WORK...

I'm hoping for a quieter, gentler summer and to kick it off, I think I'll hit up the drive-in this weekend to see the new X-Men movie (but not superman vs batman because I've never liked either of them).

Just started reading the work of poet Mary Oliver and her words speak to me: 'Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?'
Manager is encouraging me to apply for a development program at work: 2 year rotation, four locations, six months in each location, with one overseas location. Not sure if he thinks I'm up for it, or wants me far away

Carbonara. Imported fettuccine coated in a glorious mixture of egg, pecorino, parmesan, guanciale (can sub pancetta or bacon), and lots of freshly cracked black pepper.
May be the best thing I'll ever put in my mouth. I could eat this daily. So simple, so inexpensive yet so incredible. I think it may be the ultimate seduction food. I seduced myself.

best: I had fantastic grilled clams and ceviche last night
worst: sushi the night before at a place that does all you can eat sushi for girls night out

Best and worst this week:
Best: it was a dismal food week. The buttermilk chive dressing on my salad
Worst: tonight's biryani (made at home) and Mac and Cheese at work.
So-so: the dark and stormy at a bar last night.
