I was thinking today how the development of App's for smartphones have changed the way we use the internet. (Mobile at least but desktop's will follow suit.) Instead of typing in a URL and navigating to a webpage we simply click on an icon and there we are! Pretty neat if you think about it and a very efficient way to get to where we want to go. I have about 40 on my i-Phone that I use quite regularly.

So my question is, which App(s) have changed your life in a good way? I'm always on the look out for new app's that will make my life easier.  /thumbsup

My top 5 would be:

1- Shazam. (Now I know who's singing that song.)
2- Couch to 10K (A great App if you want to start a jogging program.)
3- Kayak (I fly quite a bit.)
4- Amazon (One click to buy pretty much anything? Awesome!)
5- NPR News & Time (Easily readable news.)

Dear, dear Mr. Craig....I can't believe no one has joined you in such a fun query!  Of course I will join you for conversation at your table!   /cheers

Let's see.... (as she swiftly whips out her I-Phone 4 - yes, dates her doesn't it?  Not the latest and greatest I fear to say....)

Amazon's Kindle App (has saved me many a boring time waiting in airports, dr's offices, DMV, etc)
Around Me (pinpoints you on GPS and gives you important places around you - restaurants, hospitals, etc)
SoundHound (for when I can't recall a name to a song playing on the radio - happening more these days....)
Find iPhone (self explanatory)
Flashlight (exceedingly cool during a power outage)
Map My Walk (nice to know just how far I have actually walked!)

But....can't live without
PANDORA  - the soundtrack I live by these days!

Why thank you Ellen. I will kindly accept your offering of beer and also bring some wine along for the party.  /drink

Mapmywalk sounds a good one to have and thanks for sharing. I'm with you on Pandora although I don't seem to utilize that as much as I should.

I've just started to use Audible.com as they have a free book, 30 day trial "special" running and I'm liking it so much I may just let it run month to month for a bit.

Honorary mentions go to Netflix and The Weather Channel.

Btw re: your iPhone 4, I recently upgraded to a 5 from my trusty yet battered and bruised 3GS and have just started using Siri as I never had it before. It's actually pretty good. I told Siri that "I loved her" yesterday and she replied: " That's great! Now let's get back to the task in hand!" I guess the feelings are not mutual. ;)

James, ask Siri if she has a boyfriend. She gave me a really funny answer!

My favorite Apps right now are Skype, WhatsApp, Google Maps, (I get lost a lot), and Pandora. I have a couple of games on my phone too.  On my IPad I love the Kindle reader App, and of course the kindle store.

She just says that she is searching the web for "Siri do you have a boyfriend!" Talk about ignoring the question! ;)

I've recently started using WhatsApp as it works very well when I email pictures/video's back home to the UK.

Google maps I agree is awesome and even better since they added voice commands to it.  /thumbsup

I now have Siri calling me "Sir James!" Talk about an inflated ego of oneself! :)

When I asked her if she had a boyfriend, she answered,"I am not so lucky.". I thought that was hilarious!

I'll get to electronic books within the next year I guess.  Hehehe

I want her to call me the Wicked Witch of the West!

I simply said: "Siri, call me Sir James" and she repeated if that's what I wanted to be called and then said "okay."

I changed it to "hotstuff" and she said "okay I will call you hotstuff! That has a nice ring to it!" I'm liking her more and more! ;)

Which one do you use for Google Calendar?

I sync 5 separate google calendars with the iCalendar gizmo default on my iPad and the calendar app on my Driod.
