I guess I've always had this question circulating around my frontal lobe when it comes to the world of male escorting. How does one determine whether to work for an agency instead of just going out there, charging your own rates, and being an independent escort? I only ask because being an adult full-time student, going back to university to finish my bachelor's, is my number one priority right now. I wanted to know if any male companionships on here ever worked through an agency... I mean I've browsed the sites of a couple of the distinguished men on Concierge du Monde (Tyler Grey, James Craig, Alex Logan, Storm Astor), and I'm left very impressed.

Would working indepentdently as someone first starting out in the business that is escorting, be frowned upon?

I try and google escorting agencies along the east coast (US), and I'm left leaving vastly disappointed when all that pops up are various 'gay male escorting sites' or countless unprofessional sites w/ adult males taking penis portraits.

I don't knock what no one else is doing, but w/ an endeavor such as approaching and spending time w/ desirable women enters my head, I would think men would be more tactful. No? I hope my question is clear and concise enough.

Hi MrLoganWright,

It's a matter of looking and learning.

I saw in the UK that there are screeds of scam agencies (sorry my fellow UK types but nothing personal here; what I saw and read etc.)

With the Net one can have one's own site and pretty much conduct activity on ones own terms.

But as I read on my fortnightly persual of posts EVERYONE has to be careful.

MLW~

My two-cents on Agency's:

Finding a reputable, legal, straight agency on the east coast is, well... tough. When I first decided to do this, I looked around for an agency where I could get guidance and tips. Didn't happen.  I instead turned to a good female friend who had gone through the agency thing on her end and then realized that working for herself was much more advantageous. She helped me out and especially helped with the basics that apply to both sides of the XX/XY spectrum.

Then, I found CdM. It filled in the blanks.

If you can find a reputable agency, it may be worth it. But in the end, I think you are better off going solo and using this forum to help you along the way.

Hope that helps,
- Tyler

Surely I was thinking if you're a female looking for an escort you'd trust someone being vetted by an agency rather than an independent who could be a nutcase or have a criminal record?

When I first started looking, that was my thought. I soon discovered that the agencies wouldn't let me speak to a man before meeting him, and the guys weren't really vetted all that well. As an example, two of the famous Cowboys for Angels guys, who are on the cable show Gigolos have been arrested recently on criminal charges. One for a violent felony.

I started looking at independent websites. Of course, there were still some worries, but I took my time. when I finally found a man who seemed right for me, we spent many months getting to know each other by phone and email.

When considering independent escorts, I think women look for a professionally designed website, a willingness to communicate (rather than just book a date), and also word of mouth.

I see your point guys. Anyone know some genuine male escort agencies? Or at least how to find them? I guess they will be fairly private so they won't be found on Google easily

Actually, escort agencies are a legitimate business, and if they were private, they wouldn't have very many clients. You can find them through a Google search or in the Yellow Pages. That's how women find them when they want to utilize their services. It can be hard to distinguish legitimate from scams. This article has some excellent guidelines. It was written for female escorts, but it all applies to males, as well.

The well-known agencies, such as Cowboys for Angels, are difficult to sign with. Being a male escort, whether independent or with an agency is not an easy profession in which to become established.

I personally have no knowledge of agencies so I'm unsure which one's are legit or not.

I would imagine that one of the reasons women choose independent over agency is the opportunity to figure each other out prior to any meeting. I notice that Cavendish Knights say that they will arrange for the escort to call you prior to the meeting, to get your stories straight before a function that involves both pretending to know one another. I'm curious to know what kind of dynamic, trust, and confidence that fosters?

I'm sure that legitimate agencies have some benefits, especially to newer companions just starting out, but the trust and comfort factor generally come from lots of dialogue before, and not at the meeting.
